I have allays liked palm and have had then since the ugly assed (but oh so functional) first gen that I replaced my newton (ok laugh but I dug it)…. but Treo’s…
I went through maybe 6 or 7 Treo 600′s because of screen problems. I had maybe 2 or 3 650′s so things did get better and well I got tired an decided I could live with slightly borked color. Verizon was pretty cool about the whole thing and never charged to replaced due to hardware defect (Apple, looking at you again).
Palm’s quality control scares me, historically it’s maybe break even up to the palm IV but the last 10 years have been pretty bad overall imo. I would be scared to get a Pre early even though I would like to. The geek in me is pretty interested, and I hate the closed system of the iphone so anything more open calls to me.
Something else scares me though. Sprint. Their prices look pretty fucked up to me at a glance. The everything or everything family plans don’t seem very good compared to the iphone plans, especial the original which I thought pretty much nailed it ($20, and is why I have not upgraded) for data and sms (which should be the same thing anyway but digress). I have doubts about their willingness to compete, instead they want to toss around vague voodoo numbers on annual saving with no break down (which means they are over valuing specific service usage that is bundled and meaningless).
I hate this carrier locked shit anyway :p. crippling innovation in ce phone space imo, what would it look like in a any phone on any network any time world. What we need is more dumb pipes all around that is when the music gets kicked into high gear.
. Kaily has her required shots for kinder garden coming too, she is not looking forward to that, she did not care for the the flue shot she had right before Kaden was born.
