We are headed up to UCSF today to get the stitches and staples taken out. Hopefully this will let Charise sleep a little more comfortable.

Ok so we now have the final pathology back on the tumor. It is in fact a low grade Apendanoma (sp), meaning slow growth, and *benign* which is a super relief. They still need to do a second spinal MRI but the first one looked good. A couple areas were occluded do some post surgery clotting along the spine,  so anyway the second is mainly just precautionary at this point. So excellent news all around !

Now we just have to keep working our way down recovery lane (light is down there somewhere I’m sure of it) and keep working on the wrist physical therapy in tandem as well. Not to jinx us or anything but I think we are through the thick of it now and hopefully clearing the worst of the storm.

*sigh* it looks like I will have to put a comment block in place, some scuz ball spamers are starting to do submit comment spam to this site with track backs. Honestly no idea why anyone would bother.
I’ll apologize in advance. Basically it will show you a funny picture of a word and you will need to type that in to submit a comment. Shouldn’t be to gruesomely hard . This change will probable go into effect sunday night or monday depending on some other minor upgrade/fixes that I need to do as well (gallery thumbnail are a little messed up too).

Charise is doing pretty good but had a long night, the liquid pain stuff they sent home with her dose not do nearly the job that the stuff in the hospital was, plus it only last 4 hours, so I was up all night getting her new stuff :p. Tylenol has 8 hour time release stuff, why not this too :p ?

Ok a couple folks have asked…so, this weekend we have visiting hours 2-4pm Saturday and Sunday. If you want to come by at some other point just give me a call and we can see what will work. Between the dope and general fatigue it’s a little hit and miss so we need to keep things condensed down a bit. That being said Charise would love some company (must be getting sick of her Mom and Me ).

Well traffic was mess and it took forever, plus Christa had us shleping 5 boxes over flowing with flowers and stuff through the rain BUT we are finaly home!

We received some beutuful flowers. Mallory and devon, Denise, Spragg, my Mom, Boby and Ed, Wes the other day… and on! I’m typing with my thumbs. They are making the room smell great. I’ll post some more pictures when I get home tonight.

The crainial swelling is going down a bit so looks like we are actualy on track for a friday jail break.

Well yeah, Charise is still a bit dizzy and not just in a blond way . I guess all those brain fluids are having to equalize or something.
Anyway, it’s sounding more like Friday now, her cranial swelling (which is causing the swelling, double vision, dizziness and pretty much everything else right now) still hasn’t gone down according to the CT today. Just a little longer though. To say she is getting ancy, well it might be a bit of a understament.

Definitly looking like we won’t be home until whensday late or thursday. Charise is doing well though over all and can’t wait to get home.

Last couple days Charise has had a bit of a leak in the night from her stitches. They put some staples in today and sent her off for her MRI and CT, but if that doesn’t fix it they they might have to put in a shunt. Thought the staples are  looking promising since it hasn’t leaked since they went in. Unfortunately they are talking Wednesday now, which means probable not going home tomorrow.

No idea how folks without good insurance manage something like this, scary to think about.

Sorry not much posting today. I was at the hospital this morning but had to take kaily back to sunnyvale for the afternoon, tomorrow she will go to daycare so I can head back up. With a bit of luck we should have some new info tomorrow and a better idea when she will be coming home.

Christa has been staying at the hospital tirelessly (or tiredly as more likely the case but she doth protest that she is fine).
The last couple days we have had some great visits. Susie from School, Barb, the Walker-Shaw clan (with jamba juice!), my Mom and Dad, Richard Anthony… and of course…

Today Charise manged to eat some custard and pudding and hobble to the bathroom with minimal help, so while there are still some issues she is making some good progress too. She is getting a bit of irritation from something and it’s making her itch a lot so they are giving her something for that but it’s only working so so. Still all things considered she is looking and sounding a bit better each day.

Some problems with her line this morning making it hard to get her stuff. She is also hungry but can’t eat.

Ok, Charise is out of the ICU. I don’t think her phone is hooked up yet but it might be by now (I’m home with Kaily again).

she can’t really talk much though, or clearly so it might be an excise is frustration to call, I’ll ask her tomorrow if folks should bother.

Her mom is staying with her tonight in the room and maybe tomorrow as well though I might switch with her.

I expect her to be there at least until sunday and probable until early next week (Monday or tuesday), but all that depends on how the next two days go. Odds are we won’t be home until at least monday though. There are still some issues with swallowing (she can’t) and she is not mobile yet, though that might change over the weekend.

ok we are moving out of the icu (yeah!). charise still can’t swallow so she will be here at UCSF through the weekend. I’ll post contact and visting info in a couple hours.

some scuttle butt about maybe moving her down to recovery today. Will see.

I’m going to talk to either dr. wang or dr. parsa today and find out a bit more about the speech issues but she is doing well enough that she can have some thickend liquids.
